  2. he was excluded from the succession by the
  3. Treaty of Troyes, but recognized by the South
  4. of France. In 1429 Joan of Arc raised the
  5. siege of Orleans and had him crowned at
  6. Reims. He organized France's first standing
  7. army and by 1453 he had expelled the English
  8. from all of France except Calais.
